Emmanuel Ogbah returns to South Beach.
NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe reported Tuesday morning that the Miami Dolphins are signing Ogbah, per a source informed of the pact. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport added that the deal is for one year and worth up to $5 million.
Ogbah's return comes on the heels of Shaquil Barrett abruptly retiring after signing with the Dolphins during the offseason.
The 30-year-old pass rusher has spent the past four years in Miami after stints in Cleveland and Kansas City. Ogbah's first two years with the Dolphins flew under the radar, but he was a productive edge, always finding himself in the mix. He generated 18 sacks in those two seasons. A triceps injury ended his 2022 campaign after nine games. In 2023 he played a rotational role after coming off the injury.
The Dolphins released Ogbah in a cost-saving move in February. Now he's back to add a much-needed pass rush in Miami.
The Fins enter training camp with questions on the edge, with linebackers Bradley Chubb, Jaelan Phillips and Cameron Goode all starting on the physically unable to perform list and first-rounder Chop Robinson entering his rookie season. Adding a veteran presence in Ogbah provides a known commodity with upside as they wait for others to get healthy.
