A hamstring injury might accomplish what NFL defenses have been powerless to achieve over the past month: stop scorching hot Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin.
Coach Pete Carroll indicated Thursday that Baldwin likely will be a game-time decision against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday.
"We think (he's OK)," Carroll said, via the team's official website. "He's going to do a little more work tomorrow. He'll go all the way to game time, but he feels very good. But we're still going to be slow to bring him back. He'll do some stuff tomorrow, then we'll take it all the way to game time on that."
Baldwin's name was a surprise on Wednesday's injury report, just a few days after he scored two more touchdowns in the Seahawks' victory over the Cleveland Browns.
The fifth-year receiver has piled up 10 touchdown catches over the past four games, joining Hall of Famer Jerry Rice as the only players to accomplish that feat. Along with Hall of Famer Cris Carter and Detroit Lions star Calvin Johnson, Baldwin is one of three players since 1960 with multiple touchdowns in four consecutive games.
The timing of the injury couldn't be worse for Baldwin. If Seattle's top receiver is forced to sit out Sunday's game, however, Russell Wilson can lean more heavily on playmaking rookie Tyler Lockett, who has been highly productive in his own right.
