Draft Buzz: Pioli, Chiefs willing to wheel, deal picks

We're just eight days away from the 2012 draft, and news nuggets are rolling in from all 32 NFL cities. In an effort to help, we'll be rounding up information that slips through the cracks for a little running segment we call "Draft Buzz."

1.Kansas City Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli believes his team is in a prime position to move up or down from their No. 11 spot in the first round. "We may trade up if something is getting close to us and someone is trying to bail out at a ridiculous price that we can't pass up -- and there's a player that really is the apple of our eye," Pioli told the team's official website. "Or we may move back if someone comes to us with something."

Romeo Crennel made an attempt to lure Peyton Manning this offseason. This is a coach who saw his ship sink in Cleveland, thanks to horrid quarterback play. The second time around, he wants to be certain he has the right man under center. Maybe that's Matt Cassel. Or maybe this team goes after one of the many quarterback prospects in the draft. They have the flexibility to make a move.

2.Luke Kuechly attended Cincinnati St. Xavier High School in days gone by. He now has a chance to return to the city with the Bengals, who brought the Boston College linebacker in for a visit Tuesday. Kuechly's take on a potential return? "Cool. That would be cool," he told the team's official website.

Widely viewed as the best middle linebacker in the draft, Kuechly might not slip by Andy Reid and the Philadelphia Eagles at No. 15, but we learned Tuesday that the team is angling to move up for a certain defensive lineman.

3.The Buffalo Bills hosted a steady stream of big names this week: On Tuesday, Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill, South Carolina cornerback Stephon Gilmore and Mississippi State defensive tackle Fletcher Cox strolled through the facility. Rosenthal asked the question last month: Do the Bills have the best defensive line in football? Adding Cox to a cast that includes Mario Williams and Marcell Dareus might answer that question.

Check back soon, friends. This will be updated throughout the day.
