The New Orleans Saints will induct quarterback Drew Brees into the team's Hall of Fame during the 2024 season, the club announced on Thursday.
After signing with the Saints in 2006, Brees went on to have a Pro Football Hall of Fame career in The Bayou. In 15 seasons with New Orleans, Brees broke the 5,000-yard passing barrier five times and led the NFL in passing in seven seasons.
The superlatives just begin there for the Saints' 12-time Pro Bowler and 2006 Walter Payton Man of the Year winner. In New Orleans, Brees was twice named Offensive Player of the Year, made one first-team All-Pro and four second-teams, was a four-time touchdown leader, two-time passer-rating leader, and six times led the league in completion percentage. Brees holds the NFL record for highest completion percentage in a season (74.4% in 2018), highest completion percentage in a game at 96.7%, most 5,000-yard seasons, and is tied for the single-game passing touchdown record (7).
Perhaps most importantly, Brees led the Saints to their first Super Bowl win in franchise history, a 31-17 victory over Peyton Manning's Colts in Super Bowl XLIV.
After retiring following the 2020 season, Brees was always a shoo-in for the team's Hall of Fame and, eventually, the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The only question remaining: What week will the team host his induction into the club HOF, and whether it will be when Sean Payton and the Broncos visit New Orleans in Week 7 on Thursday night on Prime Video?
