On Saturday, Aug. 2, the Class of 2008 will be formally inducted into the Hall. Earlier this year, they were measured for their bust and jacket sizes. They will be presented with their busts at the Hall of Fame ceremony.
Gary Zimmerman belongs to a number of exclusive clubs. He is one of a few players who have been selected to two of the NFL's All-Decade teams. He played in only four seasons during the 1980s (at least in the NFL), but was easily a member of that all-decade team. He also was selected to the 1990s All-Decade team.
The Pro Football Hall of Fame also is a smaller fraternity of players. But Zimmerman is one of the few players to play in the USFL and then go on to earn entry into the Hall of Fame. Jim Kelly, Reggie White, and Steve Young are a few notable members of this exclusive class. In fact, Young and Zimmerman both played for the Los Angeles Express.
Zimmerman was voted to seven Pro Bowls and was a first- or second-team All-Pro selection eight times during his career.
