The Philadelphia Eagles announced Saturday that cornerback Asante Samuel and right tackle Winston Justice will not travel with the team to Dallas for Sunday's game against the Cowboys.
It will be the third consecutive missed game for Samuel, who left practice Friday because of a sore knee and was listed as questionable on the injury report. Samuel was limited in practice Wednesday, then sat out Thursday's workout.
Samuel, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, injured the knee late in the fourth quarter of a Nov. 21 victory over the New York Giants. It was called a medial collateral ligament sprain at that time, and the Eagles said Samuel's status was day to day.
While Samuel has been sidelined, the Eagles' pass defense has fallen from 13th to 17th in the NFL, allowing quarterbacks Jay Cutler of the Chicago Bears and Matt Schaub of the Houston Texans to have big games.
Samuel missed one game earlier this season with a concussion. He still leads the NFL with seven interceptions despite playing in just nine games.
Joselio Hanson once again will start in Samuel's place opposite Dimitri Patterson, and rookie Trevard Lindley will see time in the nickel package.
Justice also didn't practice Friday and was listed as questionable with a hyperextended knee that he suffered last week against the Texans. King Dunlap will start in Justice's place.
