Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said Tuesday that he would welcome controversial receiver DeSean Jackson back to the Eagles "if the right terms develop."
"DeSean is a terrific player," Lurie said, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "I think his attitude and his whole approach in the final month of the season was terrific -- high energy. I think he started to realize and get it.
"So I would welcome him back. If the right terms develop he would be welcomed back. We have the leverage of, obviously, we can do what we choose to do and control his situation. Terrific player and I really don't agree with those that don't think that he's tapped his potential fully. I think he hasn't and he has a chance to get even better."
Jackson just completed the fourth and final year of his rookie contract. He is thought to want a long-term deal that would pay him in the neighborhood of $10 million per year. The Eagles could also opt to place the one-year franchise tag on Jackson in February.
After the Eagles' season finale on Sunday, Jackson said he wanted to return to the team, and apologized for letting uncertainty about his contract affect his play this season. He had 58 receptions for 961 yards and four touchdowns in 2011.
Jackson was benched one game after missing a team meeting and sidelined late in another for dropping several passes.
