Eagles sacks leader Cole has surgery on right elbow

The Philadelphia Eagles announced Tuesday that starting defensive end Trent Cole has undergone a successful arthroscopic surgical debridement of his right elbow.

The procedure, which several online sources define as the cutting away of dead or contaminated tissue or foreign material from a wound to prevent infection, was performed Monday by Dr. Michael Ciccotti of the Rothman Institute at the Thomas Jefferson Surgical Center at the Navy Yards in South Philadelphia.

Cole led the Eagles with 10 sacks this past season and was second with 65 tackles. The six-year pro has started in 77 of the Eagles' past 80 regular-season games.
