Eagles WR A.J. Brown (hamstring) downgraded to out for 'Monday Night Football' vs. Falcons

After an injury popped up during the week, the Philadelphia Eagles' No. 1 wideout will not be available in Week 2.

A.J. Brown, who was initially listed as questionable with a hamstring injury, was downgraded to out on Sunday and will not play in the Eagles' Monday Night Football game versus the Atlanta Falcons.

Brown was added to the injury report on Friday, with head coach Nick Sirianni revealing the next day that he had experienced some tightness in his hamstring during Friday's practice, and they had wanted to be cautious with their star wideout. Brown was listed as a limited participant that day before being downgraded to a DNP for Saturday's workout.

In the end the precautionary measures were not enough, as the injury will prevent Brown from taking the field with his teammates, his first regular-season game missed since coming to Philly.

Though the Eagles have other receiving options at Jalen Hurts' disposal, namely DeVonta Smith, Brown's presence will be sorely missed, especially considering his powerful Week 1 showing.

In the season-opening win over the Packers last Friday, Brown led the Eagles with 119 receiving yards on five catches, highlighted by a 67-yard toss from Hurts for a touchdown.

Since joining the Eagles in 2022 Brown had not missed a regular-season game, leading the team in back-to-back years with 1,400-plus receiving yards to earn a pair of Pro Bowl nods and a new three-year, $96 million extension this April.

But now Brown will have to wait at least a week before getting to build on his dominant Week 1 performance, and the Eagles will have to host the Falcons in prime time without their WR1.

Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. ET on Monday night.
