Pinned on the 3-yard line and out of timeouts, Chicago's final drive looked like a bust.

That was before the audio cut out on Brian Griese's helmet.

The only noise Griese heard was the sound of his own voice calling the plays, rallying the Bears and driving them 97 yards for the winning score in a 19-16 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night.

Don't count out the Bears quite yet in the NFC playoff picture.

"I felt really good calling my own plays in that situation," Griese said. "Before I got out into a two-minute drill, I kind of look at our play sheet and get in my mind a plan of what we want to do. So I felt comfortable in that situation."

Griese did get some help on the final play that turned into the winning TD. He ran to the sideline with the clock stopped, then came back and connected with Muhsin Muhammad for a 15-yard touchdown pass with 9 seconds left for the stunning score.

The Cowboys keep finding ways to win -- weird, wacky, harder-than-they-have-to-be ways.

Despite dominating Minnesota for most of the game, Dallas did all it could to let the Vikings stay close, even in the lead. Then, when Dallas was about to fall behind again late in the third quarter, Chris Canty blocked a potential field goal and Pat Watkins returned it 68 yards for the touchdown that sent the Cowboys to a 24-14 victory Sunday.

"If there's any kind of doubt about what kind of heart or character they have, we saw it again," Dallas coach Wade Phillips said. "For some reason, we've been behind every game. We seem to keep our poise."

Rob Bironas kicked an NFL-record eight field goals, including the game-winner as time expired, to lead the Titans to a 38-36 win over the Houston Texans on Sunday.

The record-setting kick foiled a spirited comeback by the Texans (3-4), who scored 29 points in the fourth quarter, capped by a 53-yard touchdown pass from Sage Rosenfels to Andre' Davis to take a 36-35 lead with 57 seconds to play.

The Titans (4-2) faced a third-and-10 at their 37 when QB Kerry Collins found Roydell Williams on a 46-yard pass that set up the winning kick. Bironas said he didn't realize he was closing in on the mark.

"I knew we'd hit quite a few, but I try not to count," Bironas said. "I try not to know the distances when I go out there, so I'm always concentrating on making the same kick. I've never really counted. I'll remember this one, though."
