Eddie Lacy misses Packers practice with hamstring pull

Just as Eddie Lacy was emerging as a potential favorite in the Green Bay Packers' running back derby, the rookie has been forced to take a seat.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy told reporters Wednesday that Lacy was held out of practice with a pulled hamstring. McCarthy didn't indicate the issue was a long-term concern for the team.

Lacy put on a show in the Packers' intrasquad scrimmage Saturday, finishing with 65 yards on eight carries. He was rewarded for that performance with first-team reps in Tuesday's practice.

McCarthy said Wednesday that the Packers' running back competition has never been this good. With Lacy temporarily sidelined, fellow rookie Johnathan Franklin might get his chance at some extra looks.
