NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah is a former NFL scout, and he has been busy talking with current ones in the lead up to the 2013 NFL Draft.
On the topic of this year's uneven quarterback class, Jeremiah tweeted Thursday about the noise surrounding everyone from West Virginia's Geno Smith to Florida State's EJ Manuel.
Smith is widely regarded as the only first-round talent of the bunch, but the player starting to pick up steam is Manuel, who would be an interesting fit in Chip Kelly's high-paced offense in Philadelphia.
NFL Network's Mike Mayock sees Manuel as the second-best passer in the draft, while Manuel is calling himself a first-round pick. If that holds true, the Eagles are out of luck unless they plan to burn their No. 4 selection on the mobile signal-caller. Unlikely.
Jeremiah also said he'd be "surprised" if Matt Scott escapes the third round. Several teams are buzzing around the Arizona prospect.
UPDATE: Manuel worked out for the Eagles on Thursday and will work out for the Cincinnati Bengals on Friday, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.
