Winter slowly is giving way to spring, a changing of seasons that can only mean one thing: Merril Hoge has a new opinion on Tim Tebow.
In a press release titled, "ESPN NFL Analysts React to Peyton Manning's Decision to Join Denver Broncos," Hoge dropped the hammer on Tebow, who -- not for nothing -- already was having a pretty rough day.
"The more I studied him in an NFL setting, the more disturbed I was that he has no clue what he's looking at," Hoge said. "His IQ as a football player is not very good. That is why they have to come down and make it some of a college-form system that he's comfortable with in Florida. He can't execute, from a cerebral aspect, a pro-style system."
Wow, Merril. Of course, Hoge wasn't so "disturbed" back in December, when he was chugging the Tebow tonic with the rest of America.
"I've been wrong on a lot of levels with (Tebow)," Hoge told ESPN Radio on Dec. 12, the morning after Tebow led the Broncos to a comeback win over the Bears. "I've lost the ability, or the opportunity, I should say ... to shed light on what an amazing story (about) how he has worked, persevered, changed -- his diligence -- all those things that you try to teach young people ... (what) sports are really about."
We've checked back over at ESPN a few times to see if Hoge had fired out another missive with a new opinion on the matter, but nothing yet. Just be advised this is a fluid situation.
