Evelyn Lozada releases statement on Chad Johnson

Three days after Chad Johnson was arrested on a domestic violence charge, his wife, Evelyn Lozada, has released a statement about the incident.

Darlington: Never on the same page

The Dolphins cut Chad Johnson, but Jeff Darlington says the arrest wasn't the only incident that led to his ouster. **More ...**

"It is with great sadness and much trepidation that I release this statement addressing the domestic violence incident that happened this past Saturday," Lozada wrote, via The Hufflington Post. "I am deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me, it is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well. I'm grateful to my family, friends and fans for the outpouring of support during this difficult time."

Johnson allegedly head-butted Lozada, the "Basketball Wives" star, during a "heated argument" that boiled up over a receipt for condoms found in the couple's car.

The incident factored into the Miami Dolphins' decision to part ways with Johnson on Sunday, two days after he played in the team's preseason opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The tumble has been a rapid one. Four days ago, Johnson sat atop the Dolphins' depth chart, poised for a comeback campaign after last year's disappointing run with the New England Patriots. It's now unclear if Johnson will ever step foot on the field again. His challenges, in a very short time, have shifted considerably.
