Ezekiel Elliott has found a playoff contender.
Elliott is signing with the Los Angeles Chargers practice squad, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday night.
Granted a release by the Dallas Cowboys a week prior in the hopes of landing with a team taking off on a postseason run, Elliot has found a landing spot with the Bolts.
The 29-year-old two-time rushing champion has rushed for 226 yards and three touchdowns on 74 carries this year for Dallas.
He'll join a Chargers team helmed by Jim Harbaugh that needs healthy backs with leading rusher J.K. Dobbins having come back from a knee sprain and Gus Edwards having missed the past two games due to an ankle injury.
Elliott, far beyond his prime seasons when he was one of the best backs in the NFL, has moved on from Dallas, but he could be in Houston on Saturday when the Chargers face the host Texans in the Wild Card Weekend opener.
Still solid in pass pro, Elliott can also provide goal line carries and spell Dobbins if needed. He'll have to hit the ground running with Greg Roman's offense though if he hopes to get a spot on the gameday roster, as he has just five days until L.A. opens the playoffs.
