Falcons rookie DT Jerry suffers undisclosed injury, doesn't return

ATLANTA -- Defensive tackle Peria Jerry, the Atlanta Falcons' first-round draft pick, went down with an injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 28-20 victory over the Carolina Panthers.

Jerry was hurt Sunday as Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme completed a 10-yard pass to Steve Smith with under 10 minutes remaining in the game. Jerry, a 294-pound rookie, was treated on the field for several minutes and had to be helped to the sideline, appearing to favor his left knee. A cart whisked him to the training room.

Falcons coach Mike Smith was vague about Jerry's injury after the game and said more details would be revealed when the team puts out its injury report Wednesday.
