Fan Pass: Roger Goodell sees NFL with responsibility to all sports

By Bill Bradley, contributing editor

The NFL announced Wednesday, in Baltimore, the launch of its second brain-research initiative with General Electric, this time with Under Armour as a partner.

Commissioner Roger Goodell said after the Head Health Challenge II event that safety involves more than football players.

"We have to realize that as leaders in the NFL, we accept that responsibility we have," Goodell said. "We're trying to bring awareness and focus on what can be done to prevent it, what can we do to treat it and pioneer research, which is going to change the world for what we think is all of sports, but beyond sports. Into the military.

"Most concussions happen on the playground. Or riding a bike. So we have to do what we can to keep our kids active, but do it safely."
