Despite whispers of the Browns angling to trade up for Tennessee's No. 2 overall pick in the draft, Cleveland team brass insists that no formal discussions have taken place.
Farmer -- who said he's spoken with 31 NFL teams -- clarified that he and Webster shared no talks about specific players or compensation or trading picks, calling reports of such negotiations unsubstantiated.
"Yes, of course, things remain fluid and you always have to listen," said Farmer, adding. "When you get needy, you get desperate. We aren't either."
Kremer also spoke separately with coach Mike Pettine, asking if drafting Oregon's Marcus Mariota would indicate that the Browns have given up on Johnny Manziel.
"Yes, I agree, that's what it would indicate," Pettine said.
Both Farmer and Pettine vowed that Cleveland has not lost hope in the team's first-round pick from a year ago.
"We didn't draft him to sell jerseys or tickets but to be a top-notch quarterback," Pettine said. "His career didn't start out the way we wanted. We had to hit the pause button and we have reset. I'm not ready to give up on him."
Pettine went on to say that Manziel showed "flashes of brilliance" in practice last season, prompting Kremer to ask one more time how the Browns could move up for a quarterback if they still believe in Johnny.
Seeming to downplay talk of a trade, Pettine replied: "You figure it out."
