Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Haloti Ngata is a little lighter in the wallet.
The star player was fined $8,268 by the NFL for unnecessary roughness, the league confirmed to NFL Media on Friday.
The fine comes after Ngata kicked Washington Redskins guard Shawn Lauvao during the early moments of last week's preseason game. Following an Alfred Morris rush, Lauvao fell to the ground and then Ngata ran over and kicked him in the stomach.
Ngata's defense? He thought Lauvao hit cornerback Dominique Franks late in the Ravens' 23-17 victory.
No penalty was called on the play.
Here are more fines from around the league:
» Saints defensive tackle Akiem Hicks was docked $16,537 for roughing the passer. Hicks body-slammed Andrew Luck during last week's game.
» Bengals cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick was fined $22,050 for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Cardinals wideout Ted Ginn.
» Cowboys safety Ahmad Dixon was also hit with a $22,050 fine following a hit on Dolphins receiver Matt Hazel. The seventh-round rookie struck a defenseless player in the head and neck area.
