It was a rough Week 5 for quarterbacks being hit, but their pursuers felt the pain Friday as the NFL handed down some hefty fines.
San Diego Chargers rookie linebacker Melvin Ingram's wallet is $15,750 lighter after the NFL docked him that amount for striking New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees in the head and neck area during Sunday's game.
Perhaps even more damaging: Ingram's hit nullified a pick-six by Chargers linebacker Demorrio Williams, according to U-T San Diego. The Saints scored later that drive, trimming a 31-14 Chargers lead to 24-21. The Saints eventually won, 31-24.
