Numerous league sources still expect former Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher to choose the St. Louis Rams over the Miami Dolphins when picking his next job.
Fisher, who didn't coach last season, is expected to bring Titans vice president of operations Lake Dawson with him in a front-office capacity. A Rams spokesman told The Associated Press on Saturday that the Titans approved the Rams' plans to interview Dawson and vice president of player personnel Ruston Webster for their general manager opening.
The Rams fired coach Steve Spagnuolo and GM Billy Devaney on Monday, one day after they finished a 2-14 season.
Also, it should be noted that Fisher has deep ties to New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, whose contract is expiring.
Williams loves the Saints and coach Sean Payton, according to sources, and the team wants to secure him to a long-term deal. But Williams also is a Missouri native, which could pull at his heart strings should an opportunity with the Rams arise.
If Williams were to leave New Orleans, league sources said former Jacksonville Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio would be a favorite for the Saints' defensive coordinator opening. He already has a house in New Orleans, and he started his NFL playing career with the Saints after they took him in the third round of the 1985 draft.
