Despite a breakout season as one of the NFL's 10 best defensive players, Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Fletcher Cox was surprisingly left off the Pro Bowl roster.
Around The NFL isn't alone in the belief that Cox got a raw deal.
"Wow. That was the one that kind of surprised me," coach Chip Kelly said Wednesday, via Philadelphia Magazine. "I think he's been our top player. He's been really unblockable at times. I think he's a very disruptive force. But sometimes you make the Pro Bowl I guess on reputation.
"He may be our most valuable player overall to be honest with you."
One of the league's most disruptive linemen, Cox has been shedding blockers and making plays in the backfield week-in and week-out for the past two months.
"Fletcher Cox is great every day," teammate Connor Barwin said recently. "He's a Pro Bowl player."
Cox's penetration and ability to tie up multiple blockers has contributed to Barwin's 14.5 sacks in a career year.
Without the flashy numbers of his own, though, Cox won't get the recognition he deserves.
