Former Bears WR Seymour, No. 10 pick in '69, dies of cancer

Jim Seymour, who played three seasons for the Bears, has died after a lengthy battle with cancer, the *Chicago Tribune* reported Thursday, citing a news release from Notre Dame. Seymour was 64.

Seymour was the 10th overall pick in the 1969 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams but never played a regular-season game for them. An All-American at Notre Dame, Seymour played for the Bears from 1970 to 1972, totaling five touchdowns among his 21 receptions.

Seymour holds a Notre Dame receiving record for most yards in a game (276), which he set in his first varsity game in 1966. He was selected an All-American the next two seasons, and his 138 career receptions still are the sixth-most in Fighting Irish history.
