Former Cowboys DT Josh Brent released from jail

Former Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent was released from jail Sunday, the Dallas County Sheriff's office confirmed to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.

Brent was convicted of intoxication manslaughter after a fiery car wreck that killed teammate and close friend, Jerry Brown.

Brent announced last July that he was retiring from football to focus on getting the priorities in his life in order.

The Cowboys have not ruled out a reunion with the 26-year-old.

"We'll certainly look at that," executive vice president Stephen Jones said early this month. "The league will have a big say in when he can come back. We'll certainly evaluate that situation when it comes."

Agent Peter Schaffer recently said he has yet to approach the NFL about a potential comeback for Brent.

If Brent does change his mind and attempts to rejoin the Cowboys, he would be a candidate for suspension under the NFL's personal conduct policy.
