Fans who tune into NFL pregame shows to quench their thirst for celebrity impressions, please look away.
Frank Caliendo is out at FOX after nine seasons.
The comedian confirmed his exit from the network Thursday in a message on his Facebook page.
"I will not be back this coming season," Caliendo wrote, likely in character as John Madden, George W. Bush or Jack Nicholson. "It was great to be part of the team with Terry and the guys for the last nine years, but it's time to move on. I have a couple of upcoming ventures that look like they may be pretty cool. ... And as soon as I can tell you more about them -- I definitely will."
Caliendo wasn't our cup of tea, but we understand he traffics in the broad-humor demographic that makes your Uncle Harold howl. He admirably filled a niche for FOX, and Howie Long certainly seemed to get a kick out of him.
Caliendo is now free to fulfill his true destiny: Playing the wacky neighbor on a highly-rated, critically-reviled CBS sitcom that runs for 12 seasons.
