The 49ers aren't blaming their offensive coordinator just yet.
Heading into Sunday's game against the lowly Rams, one of the league's worst run defenses, Frank Gore expected to see some extended action.
"We got to make our mind up, do what we feel we're good at and just go do it," Gore said, via CSN. "I still think we have a great coordinator. I still believe in our coordinator. He's been successful since he got here."
That coordinator, Greg Roman, is currently in charge of the 18th-best offense in football. Though it's not the worst, it's severely below the team's talent level with Gore, Colin Kaepernick, Stevie Johnson, Michael Crabtree, Vernon Davis and Anquan Boldin all lining up together.
It's telling that Gore is suggesting the 49ers try and figure out what they do best. Perhaps the coordinator they're supporting has a different idea than the players do.
"We have all the talent in the world and we're doing some dumb stuff and they took advantage of it," tackle Joe Staley said. "Penalties, dumb blocks, dumb techniques and dumb schemes. We played like (expletive)."
