Grant, in fact, did not visit with the Lions, his agent told 540 AM ESPN Wisconsin on Tuesday.
Grant's agent, Alan Herman, said Grant canceled the visit because of "economic issues" on Detroit's end.
Herman previously said the running back would visit the Lions on Monday, but Grant wasn't spotted at the team's facility in Allen Park, Mich.
A team source on Tuesday told the Detroit Free Press that Grant had never scheduled a actual visit.
The Lions may not have had enough salary cap space to sign Grant. The team is thought to have less than $5 million left before signing their draft picks.
The running back visited with the New England Patriots in April, but the team decided to sign veteran back Joseph Addai instead.
The fifth-year player out of Notre Dame posted back-to-back 1,000-yard-plus seasons in 2008 and 2009, but played only one game in 2010 before being sidelined with an injury. He split running duties with James Starks last season.
