Free tickets offered for Jets-Bills game

If you are planning to be in the Detroit-area on Monday night and would like a free ticket to an NFL game, you could be in luck.

The Detroit Lions' official team website announced tickets for the game between the displaced Buffalo Bills and New York Jets at Ford Field on Monday at 7 p.m. ET will be free and available to the general public.

Fans with tickets to the originally scheduled game at Ralph Wilson Stadium will also be accepted for admission. (Be safe if you are traveling from Buffalo!)

General public tickets can be secured on the Lions' official website beginning at 10 a.m. ET, Saturday, Nov. 22. Free tickets will also be available at the Ford Field Box Office on Sunday, Nov. 23, from 10 a.m. ET to 3 p.m. and Monday, Nov. 24, beginning at 10 a.m., if any remain.

All seats are general admission.

DirecTV announced Friday that the game will air via Sunday Ticket nationally to accompany the CBS broadcast for the local New York and Buffalo areas.

UPDATE: The Lions announced that after just over two hours of being made available the free online tickets were all distributed. (Bills president Russ Brandon said 67,000 were doled out.) The team added that an additional 500 tickets will be made available Sunday at 10 a.m. ET at the Ford Field Box Office.
