Washington wide receiver DeSean Jackson finally received medical clearance before Sunday's game against the Patriots, just in time for a cacophony of offensive follies and a blowout loss at Gillette Stadium.
And when he returned, he assumed the role of a No. 1 wide receiver who was targeted six times, resulting in three catches and 15 total yards.
It was clear New England's primary goal was to shut Jackson down on Sunday, almost to a fault. Kirk Cousins had some open receivers, but none were able to make the Patriots' defense pay for its scheme. Six receiver drops, one of which resulted in a costly interception, underscored a day when nothing was going as planned. Rookie Matt Jones added a fumble to boot.
But Jackson isn't exactly helping here. Everyone gets frustrated in their own way but how does this boost anyone, especially if this is his first true action of the season?
