Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Jared Gaither, who missed the last two days of minicamp with a lingering foot injury, will undergo an MRI on Monday and see a specialist later this week, according to the team's offical Web site.
"It's basically a foot and a toe (problem)," Ravens coach John Harbaugh told the Web site after practice Sunday. "He just couldn't get through the first practice on Friday. He didn't finish the practice. I think it just kind of got worn out and sore, and he didn't feel he could go the rest of the time. That's what he said, and that's where it stands."
On Friday, Gaither was replaced at left tackle by second-year pro Michael Oher and moved to right tackle, NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora reported. After the switch was made, Gaither didn't take the field for the rest of the team's minicamp, and trade rumors swirled around the three-year veteran.
Harbaugh indicated that Gaither's absence wasn't over the position change.
"He didn't tell me he was protesting or anything like that," Harbaugh said. "We had a conversation about a lot of things like we always do, but the reason he didn't practice, based on what he told me, was the foot."
Gaither, a restricted free agent who hasn't signed his tender offer from the Ravens, started 11 games last season but missed five games with neck and foot injuries.
According to The Baltimore Sun, the Ravenshaven't initiated trade talks, nor received any offers tempting enough to move Gaither. As for the trade rumors, The Buffalo News reported Saturday that the Bills are being mentioned as the team most likely to land the former fifth-round draft pick.
