EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Weakside linebacker Michael Boley, who was suspended by the NFL for the New York Giants season opener, was reinstated from the reserve-suspended list on Tuesday.
The Giants also got running back Gartrell Johnson off waivers from the San Diego Chargers. The team needed a back because Danny Ware is out at least two weeks after he dislocated his elbow on the opening kickoff Sunday.
To create room on the roster, the Giants released veteran offensive lineman Tutan Reyes and waived defensive lineman Leger Douzable. Both players were inactive for the 23-17 triumph over Washington.
Johnson was a fourth-round pick in the draft this year. In four seasons at Colorado State, he rushed for 2,814 yards and 24 touchdowns, gaining 1,514 yards and scoring 12 touchdowns as a senior.
A 10-year veteran, Reyes was signed on May 21. He started the first two preseason games at left guard while Rich Seubert was sidelined with a shoulder injury.
Douzable spent most of last season on the practice squad. He was signed to the active roster on Dec. 3 but was inactive for the final five games.
The Giants terminated the practice squad contracts of cornerback DeAndre Wright, running back Allen Patrick and tight end Kareem Brown. Wright was a sixth-round draft choice this year. They signed tight end Bear Pascoe and defensive back Michael Coe to the practice squad.
Pascoe was a sixth-round draft choice out of Fresno State by the 49ers this year.
Coe was a fifth-round draft choice by the Indianapolis Colts in 2007. He played in six games that season as a reserve defensive back and special teamer. He spent the 2008 season on injured reserve after undergoing knee surgery.
