The Giants announced the move Wednesday and signed cornerback D.J. Johnson off the Denver Broncos' practice squad to fill out the roster.

Wilkinson was hurt during Sunday's 21-20 loss to the San Diego Chargers, and he had surgery Monday. He was leading the Giants with 12 tackles on special teams.

Johnson is a rookie out of Jackson State. The Broncos signed him as a free agent in April.
