The two-year contract extension signed by defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey this week suggested the San Francisco 49ers are confident that their run-stuffer will fully recover from a recent torn biceps injury.
Although original expectations were that Dorsey would miss the entirety of the 2014 season, there is now hope that he will avoid injured reserve.
Coach Jim Harbaugh confirmed Friday, via CSN Bay Area, there is a "very good chance" Dorsey will return late this season after a recovery period of three and a half months.
If a depleted 49ers defense can keep its head above water through Thanksgiving, reinforcements will begin arriving in the form of Dorsey and All-Pro inside linebacker NaVorro Bowman (ACL surgery) by December.
For the second consecutive season, the Niners could be hitting their stride entering the postseason.
