The St. Louis Rams finally unveiled first-round draft pick Greg Robinson against the San Francisco 49ers in Monday night'sgame.
Robinson made his first career start at left guard, with Rodger Saffold shifted over to the right side. Veteran Davin Joseph has been relegated to a reserve role after struggling in pass protection over the first four games.
"You see (Robinson) working, you see him getting reps, he's doing a nice job. It's a process," offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer explained last week. "We saw it last year with some of those guys like Tavon (Austin) some of the younger plays it takes time. Especially for a guy coming from a school that had a limited playbook. ... Again, going to be a really, really good player in this league."
Robinson profiled as a road-grading run blocker coming out of college, as his Auburn tape showed him blowing defensive linemen off the ball. The trouble has been pass protection, as Robinson was less than dominant at the college level and was exposed in preseason action.
He will be in for a tough first test against 49ers defensive end Justin Smith, who has been dominant this season.
The No. 2 overall draft pick isn't the only Rams rookie getting a longer look.
