The so-called reunion between Gregg Williams and the New Orleans Saints never got off the ground on Friday night.
"What Gregg did, you're going to see that every Sunday," Rams linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar told The Times-Picayune.
"He's not one of those guys, obviously he has friends in this league on different teams, but he's one of those guys who goes straight to the locker room at the end of the game," Dunbar said. "That's him. That's been him ever since I first met him. He's not one of those guys who's going to go to the middle and hug it out. That's head coach duty."
Williams was suspended indefinitely in 2012 for his role in the bounty scandal that rocked the Saints franchise and left the former New Orleans defensive play-caller's future in doubt. Reinstated last year, Williams spent the season as a defensive aide with the Titans before joining coach Jeff Fisher in St. Louis this offseason.
Nobody expected a joyful, animated reunion between Williams and Saints coach Sean Payton, especially after Payton swatted away the meeting as "such a far-away topic."
"It's not a big deal," Payton said this week. "Our jobs are to make sure we get our guys ready for this first preseason game."
