As Peyton Manning grapples with change in Indy, Jim Irsay insists the show must go on.
Never one to hide away in his room, the Colts owner has turned the team's search for a new coach into a high-stakes, social-media parlor game with a ticking clock.
"Predict new Indianapolis Colts Head Coach, win 2 Super Bowl Tics! 1 guess only,u must guess by midnight tonight EST,Abby's hatpick! GOOD LUCK," Irsay tweeted early Tuesday.
Sounds fun for the kids. But in the adult world, it's just another chore for this "Abby" character, aka Abby Williams, Irsay's tireless assistant, who jumps through hoops with Joan Harris-like skill to seal the deals based off her boss' from-the-hip Twitter contests.
Former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel appears to be the popular choice out of the chute, with a smattering of votes for Ravens defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano and Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael Jr.
Irsay quickly dismissed one candidate.
"If you predict Rob Lowe," he wrote of the actor who last week predicted Manning's retirement. "I'll have to hunt you down like a rabid rat in the dark night and tease your kin and soak ur shoes n salted waters!"
Keep poor Abby out of this one, sir.
