Gurley rejects Vikings' roster spot for Packers' practice squad

For those men tucked away on an NFL team's practice squad, the obvious goal is to get on the field and make an impact.

If another team comes calling with an offer to join the active roster, it's a no-brainer.

Unless, of course, you're Packers wide receiver Tori Gurley, who turned down a spot on the Vikings' roster this week to remain with Green Bay's practice squad.

Gurley, for his loyalty, earned a pay bump from the Packers, but money aside, he has his reasons for sticking around.

"If you look statistically, (Minnesota's) season is going to be over in three weeks," Gurley told the Green Bay Press Gazette on Thursday. "We're already locked to have a playoff spot."

"I'm learning from some of the best receivers in the game right now," Gurley added. "The way our offense is clicking, the grass isn't going to be greener on the other side. So just learning and taking it one day at a time, my opportunity is going to come."

Perhaps Gurley's eyeing 36-year-old's Donald Driver's swan song in Green Bay. Perhaps he could use a fat Super Bowl ring on his finger. Whatever the thought process, it's unlikely the Vikings will come calling again.
