GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Seattle quarterback Matt Hasselbeck didn't start for the Seahawks on Saturday night against Green Bay and wasn't expected to play.
Hasselbeck, who played only one series in the Seahawks' preseason opener against San Diego last week, is still recovering from surgery on his non-throwing shoulder in January. Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren said earlier this week that Hasselbeck wants to play as much as possible, but the coach wants to protect him from taking a hit that could re-injure his shoulder.
Backup Seneca Wallace started in Hasselbeck's place. Left tackle Walter Jones also was expected to sit out for Seattle.
As expected, the Packers were without projected starting running back Vernand Morency, who injured his knee in the first practice session of training camp. The timline for Morency's return is indefinite.
