MINNEAPOLIS -- The date for NFL owners to argue for a dismissal of the antitrust lawsuit filed by a group of locked-out players has been moved up by two weeks to Aug. 29.
U.S. District Judge Susan Richard Nelson issued Wednesday an amended notice on the league's motion to dismiss the lawsuit. She originally scheduled the hearing for Sept. 12, four days after the regular season is supposed to begin.
Owners and players met Wednesday for a second straight day in New York, talks toward a new agreement to end the impasse and put the NFL back in business for 2011.
Nelson ruled in favor of the players on April 25, ordering the league to lift the lockout and let the players return to work. That ruling was put on hold by the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
