SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- It wasn't an easy first half for the Carolina Panthers.
Especially for running back Jonathan Stewart, who was in an out of the lineup during Super Bowl 50 with a foot injury. Just before the break, the team ruled him as questionable to return for a second time.
The hard-charging runner was initially hurt on a second-down carry in the opening quarter. Stewart was slammed to the ground awkwardly by Broncos defensive tackle Derek Wolfe and hobbled off the field.
He returned to rush for just seven yards off six attempts over the first 30 minutes. Like Stewart, the Panthers offense struggled to get going against Von Miller and Denver's defense.
Update:Jonathan Stewart returned to the game in the second half.
Here are some other injuries that we are tracking:
- Panthers wide receiver Philly Brown suffered a concussion in the loss.
- Broncos LB Shaquil Barrett suffered a concussion in Sunday's win.
