Touted true freshman Derrick Green is now the No. 2 tailback on Michigan's depth chart after a season-ending knee injury to Drake Johnson.
Johnson was injured in the Wolverines' blowout victory over Western Michigan in the opener, and Green was moved from No. 5 on the depth chart to No. 2. Green was bothered by a minor injury during fall camp, but looks to be 100 percent now. Green (5-feet-11, 240 pounds) had 11 carries for 58 yards and a TD against Western Michigan.
"Don't put all the stock in all the depth charts all the time," Wolverines coach Brady Hoke told reporters. "There's going to be a lot of guys who handle the football."
Fitzgerald Toussaint (5-10, 200) remains the starting tailback, and along with Green, it's likely De'veon Smith (5-11, 224) and Thomas Rawls (5-10, 217) also see time this week against Notre Dame.
