The Curtis Painter carnival of love and sunshine keeps rolling.
Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay tweeted Friday morning that coach Jim Caldwell will start Painter in Sunday's home game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
With Painter running the show in Monday night's competitive loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Colts regained some of the zip that was in short supply during Kerry Collins' troubled run with the winless squad.
Caldwell noticed and said Friday that Painter had done enough to keep the job. Caldwell also told reporters that Collins still hasn't been cleared to play after suffering a concussion in Week 3 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Peyton Manning he's not, but we can't help but root for Painter. This guy's rolling up and down the field looking like a mix of Kurt Cobain and Don Majkowski, and for a brief moment Monday, we forget about this team's deeper quarterback issues.
Irsay's football-related tweet came amid a swarm of esoteric offerings on Twitter, in which he dropped this gem on his 71,000-plus followers:
"I know,it's Blue Friday..I'm so damn fired up,my nostrils ache and my feet have turned 2 squares,I've evolved n2 a toeless,enlightened Guru."
Good times are back in Indy.
