Jadeveon Clowney practices but not 100 percent

There was some concern entering training camp about No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney's availability coming off sports hernia surgery.

The good news is that the outside linebacker participated in the first day of Houston Texans camp. However, Clowney told reporters that he's still "limited" as he deals with the injury.

"I don't know the percentage but I know I ain't 100 percent," Clowney said.

The rookie added that he's not sure whether he'll be full-go by Monday when the Texans have their first padded practice.

The injury shouldn't be a concern as we move toward the preseason as long as a flare-up doesn't occur and keeps him from participating in large portions of practice.

Clowney's health was one of the key storylines as he learns a new position. The Texans are wise to ease him into practices as he comes off surgery. However, he has a lot to learn moving from defensive end to an outside linebacker spot where he'll be asked to drop in coverage on occasion. Missing any time could hinder that transition.
