Mincey agreed to terms early Wednesday, after spending several hours on the open market. The Chicago Bears tried to sign the free-agent pass rusher, but he ultimately chose to stay in Jacksonville. His deal reportedly includes $9 million guaranteed and could max out at $27.2 million.
"Chicago!!! what a great organization," Mincey posted on his Twitter page. "But, Gene Smith fought for me in a Very Tough fight....PROUD TO BE A JAG!! DUUUVALLL!!!"
Mincey had a career-high eight sacks last season, and the Jaguars made it clear they wanted to re-sign the 28-year-old end they believe will develop into an elite pass rusher.
