Jaguars want to bring back Tucker, but others have interest

Jacksonville defensive coordinator Mel Tucker is held in high regard by the Jaguars organization, and, with head coach Jack Del Rio now focused more on macro issues and less on the defense, Tucker's role with the team takes on added significance.

The Jags are looking to re-sign him, but with so many coordinator jobs open or likely to open -- in Arizona, Dallas, San Francisco, San Diego (with Ron Rivera departing to become the Carolina Panthers' head coach), Denver, Cleveland -- Tucker might get a look from Dallas or San Diego, in particular.

Tucker has been the Jaguars' defensive coordinator the past two seasons. He was Cleveland's coordinator under Romeo Crennel in 2008, and he has experience in a 3-4 scheme, which the Cowboys and Chargers use.
