Not many kickers are panicking over the new 33-yard extra point, but it's interesting to hear such a ho-hum response from some of the greatest in the game right now.
"It is what it is. It's a rule you have to follow," Raiders veteran Sebastian Janikowski said, via CSN Bay Area. "It's going to make a difference in late games, November, December, windy games, snow. It's going to be a difference in the games, win or lose."
While he's slightly playing up the drama, Janikowski has missed just 11 field goals between the 30 and 39-yard mark in his 14-year career, through good and bad weather.
Kickers around the league can covert this slightly longer extra point with 94 percent accuracy.
Until we see a pronounced raise in two-point attempts, the weather threat won't raise many red flags with us. Teams will opt for a 94 percent chance of success over a play that can be extremely difficult depending on the offensive personnel.
Maybe the current power surge -- a push to strengthen offensive lines and draft big, physical running backs -- will change that.
Until then, it is what it is, just like Janikowski said.
