Dumped by the Carolina Panthersearly this week, veteran wide receiver Jason Avant wasn't out of work long.
Avant's agent, Doug Frederickson, revealed Friday that his client has signed with a new team. The Kansas City Chiefs later announced the move Friday night.
In 11 games with the Panthers this season, Avant managed just 201 yards on 21 receptions, for a meager average of 9.6 per catch.
Avant's hands have long been among the most reliable in the league, but he won't solve the Chiefs' need for a playmaker in the aerial attack. Once he learns Andy Reid's offense, the 31-year-old will likely man the slot in Kansas City.
