Jason Garrett: Miles Austin 'looked OK' for Cowboys

Miles Austin returned to the Dallas Cowboys' lineup Sunday after missing two games with a strained hamstring.

The wide receiver was targeted four times and held without a catch by a subpar Washington Redskins defense. Cowboys coach Jason Garrett didn't sugarcoat Austin's performance.

"I thought Miles looked OK," Garrett said, via ESPNDallas.com. "He's clearly working his way back into it. I don't think he looked as explosive as he did early on in the year. He's clearly trying to get his hamstring healthy. He came through the game, looked like he was able to function, everything we asked him to do. But he's a work in progress coming back."

Hamstring injuries have become a sad norm for Austin, who is battling a hamstring issue for the third straight season. Garrett conceded there is a mental component that comes with getting over a recurring injury.

"I think that's probably something that you have to consider with any injury, how confident is the player coming back, whether it's a hamstring, whether it's a knee or my ankle or my arm if I'm a thrower," Garrett said. "Just the level of comfort you need to play with and anytime you're dealing with something you have to make sure that your mind is right by the time you step on that game field."

Austin appeared to be primed for a bounce-back season but instead has seen his career remain locked in neutral. You have to wonder how much longer Dallas will wait before moving on with Terrance Williams as the No. 2 receiver option behind Dez Bryant.
