Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall on Sunday picked up right where they left off during their three seasons together in Denver, defeating the Indianapolis Colts 41-21 on Sunday.
It's obvious that Cutler has more trust in Marshall than any receiver he's worked with in his three seasons with the Chicago Bears. Marshall's first touchdown was a simple 3-yard turnaround to shield the 5-foot-11 Vontae Davis with his 6-foot-4 frame.
Cutler routinely used Marshall's size to their advantage. The two should have had another touchdown when Cutler threw a dart between two defenders that surprised even Marshall.
Nine receptions were more than Marshall had in any single game last season. He surpassed 119 yards just four times in the last two seasons combined. The Bears simply haven't had a receiver of this caliber in at least 20 years.
The sometimes-sulking Cutler appears clearly happy to have his friend back.
