The famous winds of Chicago can do nothing but fan the flames on the dumpster fire that is the Bears' 2014 season.
A team already spiraling to depths unknown hit another low Monday night in a 31-15 loss to the Saints. It was a dreadful performance that saw Cutler throw three picks, the Bears miss a zillion tackles and -- in a embarrassing epitome of the season -- attempt a fake punt with just 10 men on the field (it failed, obviously).
Speaking with WBBM-AM after the contest, quarterback Jay Cutler -- who is either in the eye of or the cause of the storm, depending on your bend -- admitted the habitual offensive errors are flummoxing.
"It's frustrating," he said. "We're trying to say the same thing different ways after games. You get to a point where you don't have the answer. I think that's where we're at."
Just a year after being hailed for transforming the Bears' offense, coach Marc Trestman appears overwhelmed and could easily be out of a job after two more Sundays as he goes down with this ship aflame. As NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday, Cutler could also find his own way out of town.
Change must happen when a group of coaches and players handsomely paid to "have the answers" don't.
